The Exchange Student – Chapter 6

The Exchange Student – Chapter 6

As cute as Doyle was, and as tempting as it was to get a second chance at traveling right next to him, ‘alone’, Anna knew it wasn’t a good idea. She didn’t know exactly how much Doyle had been aware of what had happened on the plane, how much Karissa had told him, but he did know she’d peed her pants, anyway, no matter what he’d assumed those pants to be.

If she was going to stick with her story – and she intended to, since she’d made up her mind on what it should be – then, if anything were to happen between them, he would find out about her diapers sooner or later, so perhaps getting it out of the way so early was a good thing… However, this still felt too quick. She wasn’t even really used to them yet!

Not to mention the Karissa of it all, the fact that she was going to have to live in the same room with the girl. And Karissa had been very nice to her so far, when she’d had opportunities to not be… And Karissa was so much prettier than her, and clearly miles more mature, so what chance would Anna have against her? Was that just Karissa, or was everyone in this country like that?

“I’ll ride in the back,” she offered, blushing slightly as she glanced over at Aidan, her seatmate.

Karissa blinked, as if she hadn’t considered there was any other option. “Oh,” she nodded. “Yeah. Okay.”

Anna climbed into the backseat, wincing as her clammy diaper squished beneath her bottom. She probably should have changed – or had Karissa change her again – on the plane, or ducked into the bathroom at the airport to take care of it… It had been easier to forget about it while she was standing up, but now, sitting in it, she had to hope she wasn’t going to get a rash from how long she’d been in this thing.

And she had to hope she didn’t smell, too, that the scent of ammonia wasn’t wafting around her. She’d like to believe she’d have noticed, though there was no guarantee. Her nose could have grown accustomed to it without her realizing. Maybe the whole family had been able to tell, and been too polite to say anything. Of course, in the airport, it would have been hard for them to pinpoint the origin of the odor. In the car, on the other hand…

Aidan certainly seemed like the one most likely to mention it, to blurt out something. She began to regret her choice, but she couldn’t take it back now as Karissa slid the middle seat back, locking it into place, trapping Anna in the rear and plopping down in front of her. Anna squirmed, cheeks darkening further at the crinkling she heard coming from herself, grabbing the seatbelt and buckling it.

“Hi,” Aidan smiled at her, already staring at her when she lifted her head up from fastening the restraint.

“H-Hi,” she replied shyly, anxiously tugging at her t-shirt, feeling very self-conscious to be getting observed so closely.

“What do you think so far?” he asked.

Anna wiggled her bottom, knowing he couldn’t mean her diapers, that there was no way, even if he had spotted them, that he’d be aware they were new, that she hadn’t worn them for years. Despite being in a new country, somewhere she’d never been before, they were forefront on her mind, however, and, risk of rash or not, humiliating experience on the plane disregarded, she was enjoying them.

“I-It’s pretty nice,” she told him, biting her bottom lip.

“Don’t bother her,” Karissa leaned into the backseat for a second. “She’s only seen the airport.”

“It was a good airport, though,” Anna shrugged. “Lots of… planes.”

“You don’t have to humor him,” Karissa said. “Just ignore him, like I do.”

That was easy for her to say, from a different row of seats. “No, ignore her,” Aidan countered. “If you read her diary, you’d know she’s too dumb to listen to anyway.”

“Stay out of my dairy, you little…!” Karissa turned back around, and, although she only saw the back of the girl’s head, she could almost feel her glare.

“Be nice, you two!” their mother reprimanded them from the front. “You’ve been back together five minutes! You should be glad to see each other again!”

“She wasn’t gone nearly long enough for me to miss her,” Aidan stuck his tongue out, then smiled over at Anna. “I’ll show you where she hides them. She found a new spot before the trip, but it’s even worse than her last one. It took me like two minutes to…”

“I told you to stay out of my room while I was gone!” Karissa huffed.

“I was helping mom set things up for Anna,” Aidan said innocently. “I can’t help it if your diaries were practically out in the open, waiting to be read.”

“They weren’t!”

It was good to know, Anna supposed, that siblings were the same all over. It was almost enough to make her miss Max… Almost. Maybe if she’d been living with him a little longer… As it was, it mostly made her all the more grateful to be away from him, and that she had never felt the need to write her feelings down on paper where they could be discovered. If she had, Max surely would have done so by now, would have told the whole family about Anna’s obsession with diapers, because there was no way, with as often as she’d fantasized about them, that they wouldn’t have found their way into her writings.

“I’m so sorry about this, Anna,” the mom called. “I would have thought my children would know to be on better behavior when we have company with us.”

“You said she wasn’t company,” Aidan replied. “You said she was family while she was here.” Anna smiled at that. “We fight in front of family all the time.”

Their mother sighed. “Well, at least be nicer to her than you are to your sister. She has enough to deal with being in a whole different country.”

As sweet as the sentiment had been, that was a good point. She had no doubt that, if he found out Karissa wore diapers, he’d never let her live it down… She didn’t want him to do the same with her.

“Do you just wear jammies all the time where you live?” he asked.

Anna blushed. “No. It was a long flight, so…”

“Did you sleep on the plane?” he leaned over, Anna wiggling away instinctively, which only made her diaper crackle louder. “What was that like?”

“I-I was going to,” Anna admitted, “but I wasn’t able to.” That wasn’t entirely true… She probably could have, if she’d wanted to, or, rather, if she’d trusted her pajama pants not to slip down over her diaper and expose it to everyone as she tossed and turned.

“Was it loud?” Aidan stared over at her, wide-eyed. “I bet planes are loud.”

“Yeah, kinda,” Anna nodded.

“She doesn’t want to talk about the stupid plane, brat,” Karissa taunted.

Anna couldn’t say it was her preferred subject of conversation, but if it kept his mind off looking at her too closely, possibly seeing the bulge of her diaper, she could live with it. Just like on the plane, she didn’t want to risk drifting off in the silence, either,`for the same reason.

“Have you been on a plane before?” she asked him.

Anna was able to keep his mind on that, even talking around the parts of her own experience that revolved around her padding, until they pulled into Doyle’s driveway. Karissa got out to say goodbye to him, Anna quickly grabbing for the buckle of her seatbelt. “Hold on!” she exclaimed. “Can you move the seat?”

“It’s only going to be a minute,” Aidan explained. “She’s just getting out so she can slobber all over him in private, so unless you’re going to do that…”

Anna’s face turned bright red, praying that Karissa couldn’t tell how much she might have liked to make out with Doyle, if things were different. “I-I want to stretch my legs a little,” she lied.

“Oh, yeah, sure,” Karissa said, sliding the seat forward, letting Anna climb out. Anna started to stretch, which, despite her fib, did actually feel good, until she realized lifting her arms too much made her t-shirt ride up, and then she stopped quickly, standing by awkwardly, unable to keep from staring as she caught a glimpse of Karissa and Doyle saying their goodbyes, looking quite a bit like Aidan had described.

She did empathize with them; there was no way they were going to be staying with the same host family, of course, but still, getting to stay in a different country together, away from their real parents… They’d probably been as excited about that as Anna had been about her own trip, and now they’d lost that opportunity at the last minute. Anna could only imagine how bummed she would have been if she’d arrived here, been turned back around and put on a plane back home… Especially if she hadn’t been given time to stop somewhere and buy a pair of panties to replace the ones she’d thrown away.

She waited for them to finish up and trotted over to meet Karissa on her walk back to the SUV. “Umm, could you invite me to sit in the middle with you?” she whispered. “I don’t want to offend your brother…”

“Don’t worry about that,” Karissa rolled her eyes.

Anna did, though. She didn’t want to do anything to get on his bad side, to make him feel justified in searching for her secrets, like he did with Karissa’s… It wouldn’t be hard for him to find her diapers, most likely, and if he disliked her, what would stop him from telling everyone?

Luckily, Karissa helped her out. “Here,” she announced loudly as they approached the car. “You can have Doyle’s seat now. These seats are more comfortable.”

“She’s sitting with me!” Aidan whined.

“No, she isn’t,” Karissa informed him. “Go on, Anna.”

Anna gratefully did as she was told, giving Aidan an apologetic shrug, glad to have someone else to blame changing seats on. She was closer to her host parents this way, and a glimpse in the rearview mirror might reveal her diaper to them if she wasn’t careful, much more easily than if she was all the way in the back, but they had the road to concentrate on, so she was less concerned about that than Aidan seeing it.

Karissa was tired, too, and probably sad to be leaving Doyle behind when they’d been planning on spending as much time as possible together for the next semester, so she left Anna alone, the smaller girl getting close to drifting off on the short ride from Doyle’s place to their own.

“Home, sweet home,” Karissa and Aidan’s father declared as they pulled into the garage.

“I hope you like it, dear,” their mom smiled back at Anna. “I’m not sure what you’re used to…”

“It looks lovely,” Anna replied. It was nice, if not all that different from her own house, back home, other than the electric plugs looking different. That would make it easy to get accustomed to, even if it didn’t feel all that much like she was somewhere else. She gladly accepted the dad’s offer to carry her bags upstairs to her and Karissa’s room, then, once the two new roommates had been left alone, flopped down on one of the beds, exhaustion really starting to hit her now in the familiar confines of a teenage girl’s bedroom. It wasn’t exactly the same as hers, of course, thankfully a bit bigger, and decorated a little more maturely, but there was no mistaking that was what it was.

She laid there for a moment or two, wanting very much to fall asleep right away, before she realized she was being stared at, glancing over to see Karissa standing there at her bedside. “I-Is this your bed?” she asked, reluctantly sitting up. “It was a bit smaller, so I assumed…”

“No, that one’s yours,” Karissa told her. “I just thought we should…” Her cheeks took on a tinge of red. “D-Did you… pack plastic sheets?”

Anna’s eyes widened; she should have thought of that! If she wanted to pretend she needed these diapers, that only made sense for her to have those, too! Had she blown her cover by forgetting?!

“It’s okay!” Karissa sensed her panic, and luckily not what, exactly, was causing it. “I bet they would have been a pain to try to pack. Did you plan on buying some once you got here?”

“Y-Yeah,” Anna nodded, swallowing her sigh of relief at Karissa thinking up an excuse for her. “I guess I ought to do that now, huh?”

“Well, it might be a good idea before you go to sleep, if…” Karissa stopped herself with a shrug. “I-I mean, I assume if you need them during the day that you…”

“S-Sometimes,” Anna said, head spinning a little at the idea of what she was confessing to, embarrassed by it, even knowing it was a lie, especially when she thought about it and had to amend it to a flat, “Y-Yeah, I do.” If she was going to act like she was incontinent enough to require diapers all the time during the day, it would be odd if she didn’t also use them in her sleep.

“I bet we still have some of Aidan’s,” Karissa assured her. “I can go look for you, but… You probably should stay awake until we have them on, right?”

“Y-Yeah,” Anna blushed. “Y-You’re right… Plus, I wanted to stay up until tonight to try to get used to the time zone here.”

Karissa chuckled. “You can try,” she replied diplomatically, her tone making it clear she didn’t think Anna would make it. “A nap probably wouldn’t hurt. Let’s get you those sheets first, though, just in case.”

“Thanks,” Anna said, watching her go, squirming on the bed, getting another reminder of how soggy her diaper was. She definitely needed to change soon. The only question was… Did she want to try it herself? She couldn’t rely on other people to do it the whole time she was here… Could she? In the bedroom here, or the bathroom, wherever she chose to do it, she’d have more space than she had at the airport, or on the plane, so she might be able to do a better job… But it had been so nice to have Karissa do it for her, and it hadn’t leaked.

She’d told Karissa she wasn’t good at changing herself, but the girl definitely knew that they were the same age now, that she should at least be capable of handling that on her own when they were on solid ground. If Anna asked her again now, maybe she could pass it off as her being tired from the flight, though Karissa was tired, too, surely… She didn’t want to seem totally helpless to the other girl… Did she?

She could also ask her host mom. How likely was it that she’d be able to keep it a secret from her the whole semester? It was possible, especially if she had Karissa helping her… She had a feeling it wouldn’t be easy, however, so it might be better to rip the band-aid off now, let her in on it, too, so Anna wouldn’t have to worry about her discovering it later.

She nibbled her lip, thinking hard, knowing she only had a minute or two, probably, until Karissa returned. What was she going to do?

Should Anna…

Change herself in the bedroom?

Change herself in the bathroom?

Ask Karissa to change her?

Or ask her host mom to change her?

Ramona held out, biting her bottom lip in anticipation as she listened, positive that, if she was able to make it through the long list of options that, at the end, it would give her the chance to talk to somebody, to speak to an actual person who could straighten out whatever it was that had gone wrong.

And something had very definitely gone wrong; that should have been obvious to anyone who saw her now, lying on her sofa, long, brown hair in pigtails, wearing only the top half of a set of childish pajamas… And a pair of bedwetter pants.

It could be worse, certainly… Her last attempt at getting this rectified proved that. Her eyes flicked down towards her companion on the couch as she waited, a redness tinging her cheeks at the stuffed bear in a baby diaper that had been delivered to her house that day. She’d been so excited, too, so sure that her rant had done something when the automated voice had told her, “Your complaint has been registered. Appropriate measures are being taken,” and when she’d seen the box.

Had they sent her a new phone, perhaps? Some kit to reset it? The box had seemed too large for either of those, really, but she hadn’t thought about that in the moment as she tore into it, pushing aside packing peanuts until, at last, she saw what it was, and stopped cold. When she finally took it out, it only got worse. Was it a threat? Was she being told that she should be grateful she’d been given Goodnites instead of diapers?

She got her answer when she emptied out the box, baffled, hoping there was something else there. In fact, there was, though it was hardly helpful. It was simply a printed note, telling her, “Perhaps caring for this little one will show you how mature you are, Ramona!”

It was a trick that might have worked on her, if she were truly the little girl the system seemed convinced she was… But she wasn’t. She was a young woman in her twenties with a job, a social life, her own apartment… Who would ever think that now, though, if they were to see her like this?

It had all started a few afternoons ago when she hopped on her phone to pick out a new outfit for a date she was supposed to go on. She knew it was the afternoon when it happened, because that morning, she’d been idly flipping through the app that cataloged her closet, putting together outfits, wrinkling her nose and sighing at each, none of them looking right to her… Or maybe she’d just been trying to find an excuse to do some shopping.

She’d been responsible enough to put that part off until she got home from work, stepping out of the smart cab and into her apartment building, already pulling out her phone in the elevator to begin her search. She was surprised, at first, to see how cutesy everything was when she’d told her shopping app specifically that she was going on a date; embarrassingly, it was only when one of her older neighbors who had gotten on the elevator with her peeked over her shoulder and asked, “Are you buying a gift for your little sister? Or your niece?” that she noticed she was being shown things solely from the children’s department. On closer inspection, she saw that the query she’d entered had been misinterpreted as ‘play date.’

It was a strange error, but easy enough to fix. “No,” she told her phone once she was in her apartment. “Not a play date, an actual date! I need a whole new outfit, from the ground up… In fact, let’s start with the lingerie.”

The icon had spun for a moment or two too long before responding, “Sure! Here are the underwear I found for you!” and popping up a set of search results even more humiliating than the clothes, so much so that she’d almost dropped her phone. “No, they’re for me!” she’d squealed in frustration, scrolling through, eyes bulging in shock and anger as the options shifted from merely childish to outright insulting, the bras gaining more lace, ribbons, and padding, and the underwear became something else entirely. “I don’t need a training bra, and I definitely don’t need training pants! Show me the real stuff!”

No matter what she said, the shopping app refused to budge, to give her any option suited for an adult rather than a little girl. “Fine,” she huffed at last. “I’ll stick with what I have.”

She picked out an outfit on her closet app, and a bra and panty set that were sexy enough, just in case the date went really well, even if she would have liked something new. She threw her phone onto the bed and went to take a shower, throwing her work outfit into the hamper where she heard a chime that signaled the clothes were being sent to the laundry. It did strike her as odd, since it seemed that it was ahead of schedule, but it was all automated, so she didn’t keep that close a track of it.

She expected the clothes she’d chosen to be waiting for her at the front of her closet when she got out of the shower. Instead, her closet door refused to budge, and when she went to her phone to see what was the matter, her closet app gave her an error, telling her, “No appropriate clothing found. Taking emergency measures.”

There was a knock on her door, and, with no access to her clothes, she had to wrap a towel around herself to go see what it was, finding a box there when she answered it, filled with new outfits from the shopping app. She hadn’t picked any of them out, but she could tell they were the ones she’d looked at the longest, so the app must have decided that meant she liked them the best, even though, in truth, it was more like they were the ones she was most flabbergasted were being recommended to her.

“I see by the tracking information that your new wardrobe has arrived,” her app said when she opened it. “Please load it into your closet at your earliest convenience. For now, your suggested outfit is…”

And it showed something very similar to what she had on now. “No!” she gasped. “I’m not wearing that! I-I don’t need…!” She shook her head, digging frantically through the box, stomach churning as she found not a single pair of real, big girl panties, only Goodnites and Pull-Ups. Clearly, the app had stored her preference for not wearing anything over her legs to bed, nothing more on her bottom half than panties, because there were no sleep pants, or shorts, or shirts long enough to reach them… It was very different now, however, given what she was going to be stuck wearing with her tops. “A-And I have a date!” she protested. “I’m not going to bed!”

She was wrong about all of it; she had nothing else to wear, so she did end up reluctantly going with what the app had picked out… And she didn’t go out, because the app refused to order her a car to take her to the bar they’d chosen for the date, or even to unlock her apartment door to let her out, turning her television off promptly at 8 pm, giving her no choice afterwards other than to sulkily go to bed.

Never Been Kissed

Never Been Kissed

Emilia knew right away that something was wrong, though she assumed, at first, it was just the unfamiliar room she’d woken up in. That was certainly worrisome, she couldn’t deny, especially compared with her pounding headache, but, as her memories from the night before began to slowly filter back in, the latter made more and more sense. She had gotten awfully drunk….

She’d started out pretty tipsy, even before her friends had began to play truth or dare, and she’d had to reveal her deepest, darkest secret. She’d hoped they’d be a little more understanding; they’d all had a few drinks by then, too, however.

“Wait, seriously?” April had giggled. “At your age? You are such a baby!”

Emilia had squirmed, regretting not making something up already. “Well, you know… The opportunity never presented itself, so…”

“You’re too picky,” Denise had told her. “He doesn’t have to be the one or anything… I don’t care what your Mommy and Daddy told you, you don’t have to be planning on marrying a guy to get him to sleep with you. Sometimes it’s better if you don’t plan on ever seeing him again.”

Was she a prude? She’d had to assume so, blushing and staring down at her half-empty drink on the table in front of her, listening to her friends laugh. They were right, though… At her age, she should have gotten past all the fairy tale stuff and had a one night stand or two, just for the experience.

And that was when she’d really started drinking, both to help her pretend the mockery wasn’t hurting her feelings, and to prepare herself for what she was going to do. After that night, she would no longer be a virgin, a baby in her friends’ eyes, inexperienced and innocent. She didn’t tell them that was what she was doing, of course, couldn’t let them know how much they’d gotten to her, only that she was going to stick around the bar once they’d all decided to call it a night.

From there, things became more fuzzy. She couldn’t even recall which of the guys she’d hit on she’d wound up going home with, although it must have been one of them. She noticed now, as she grew more conscious, that she wasn’t merely in a strange room… She was in strange clothes, too, an oversized men’s dress shirt and, far stranger than that…

A diaper. She didn’t want to believe it at first, wriggling on the couch she was lying on, hearing the crinkles, cautiously reaching down and lifting the hem of the shirt to confirm, but, sure enough, there was no doubt about it. She was diapered…

How could this be happening to her?! Last night was supposed to be about proving she was every bit as mature as her friends, and now she looked like a silly little toddler! She didn’t even know whose house she was in, who had undressed her and put her in this thing! She groaned, reaching down for the garment, fumbling with the tapes, just to realize, as she moved more in it, that the diaper’s padding was clammy, squishy…

Wet. She was not only in a diaper, she had wet it. There was no way this could possibly get any more humiliating! She left it on, not wanting to make a mess of this stranger’s sofa, stumbling to her feet and wandering out of the living room, searching for a bathroom where she could get cleaned up and changed, part of her curious to see if she could find out whose house she was in, another part simply eager to get out of here as quickly as possible.

The Exchange Student – Chapter 5

Anna couldn’t believe this… She squirmed, diaper crackling between her legs, feeling so vulnerable, so exposed… What were the chances? Today had been such a roller coaster, it was hard to say if she felt like she was on a streak of good luck or bad luck. She was finally getting away from her family, off to live a life thousands of miles away from them, where she could do, and be, anything she wanted; she’d also leaked the first time she’d used her diaper, however, and, somehow, managed to be seated by, and then changed by, one of the few people on the plane she’d ever see again.

And not only that she’d see again, that she was going to live with, presumably. It was difficult to judge at their age, but it was possible Karissa was old enough that she lived on her own, or was in college. Anna wracked her brain, trying to recall if the girl had mentioned being in high school, if she’d overheard her and Doyle saying anything about it.

“Well,” Karissa spoke up, stepping in a little closer, “isn’t that funny? We sat next to each other the whole plane ride and we didn’t even know! Anna is such a common name, I didn’t think anything of it when we introduced ourselves.”

“Y-Yeah,” Anna forced herself to chuckle, as if she found all this amusing, and not highly alarming. “Wh-What a weird coincidence.”

“You were seated together?” Karissa mother exclaimed, clapping her hands. “Isn’t that sweet? It must be fate! I bet that means you’re going to be best friends! Did you talk on the plane?”

Karissa raised her eyebrows, smirking down at Anna, who anxiously began tugging at the hem of her t-shirt. Her plan was to pretend she needed her diapers, of course, but that didn’t mean she wanted everyone to know right away… Especially Karissa’s little brother. If it came up, if she had to, she’d tell them; coming right out and saying it didn’t seem necessary.

Unless Karissa forced her hand. Anna squirmed, looking up at the taller girl, attempting to suss out what she was thinking, how she intended on using the power she now held over Anna. This could be a very dangerous position to be in…

“Among other things,” Karissa answered after a second or two.

“Other things?” her mother tilted her head. “What kind of things?”

Anna let out a tiny whimper, thankfully drowned out by the dull roar of the crowd around them. She almost spoke up, almost confessed it all right then, to take the wind out of Karissa’s sails, just in case…

“Oh, you know,” Karissa shrugged. “Anna had a bit of a spill.”

“Oh, no!” Karissa’s mother’s eyes widened. “Are you okay, sweetie?”

It did feel good, being fussed over, having the woman bend over to look more closely at her, although, at the moment, Anna didn’t want anyone examining her too closely, didn’t want to give anybody else a chance to notice the bulk under her pajama pants, or hear the sound of her diapers emanating from underneath with her every nervous movement. She knew they were probably being muffled by the sound of everyone else all around them, too, but, to her, it seemed as if they were cutting through it all.

“U-Uh-huh,” Anna nodded. “I-It wasn’t that kind of spill… I-I literally spilled my drink all over myself.”

“Yeah,” Karissa giggled. “Do we still have Aidan’s old sippy cups somewhere? She might need them. Or his bibs?”

Her little brother snickered at that, and Anna was pretty sure she caught their dad starting to do so as well, before his wife scolded them all. “Be nice! That could happen to anyone! Was it your first time on a plane, dear?” Anna nodded. “See? There’s no reason to make fun of the poor thing…”

“Sorry,” the little brother apologized sheepishly.

Karissa rolled her eyes. “Calm down… She knows I don’t mean anything by it, don’t you, Anna?”

She gave Anna a wink, one that might have met anything. Anna chose to interpret it as a good thing; after all, that would have been the perfect opportunity for Karissa to spill the beans on her, and she hadn’t done so. That didn’t mean she wouldn’t later, that she wasn’t waiting for a better time, for maximum humiliation… But for now, she was staying quiet.

“Yeah,” Anna smiled. “It’s a little… private joke.”

“Isn’t that sweet?” Karissa’s mother said. “You have your own in-jokes already… You two are going to get along so well, I can just tell! Maybe it’s a good thing it didn’t work out, isn’t it, Karissa?” Karissa’s expression darkened, her lip sticking out in a pout, her mother spotting it, not waiting for a reply to explain to Anna, “Karissa and Doyle were supposed to be studying abroad this semester, too, but it fell apart at the last minute. Having someone from that country staying in her room with her will be almost as good, though, I’m sure!”

“St-Staying in her room?” Anna fidgeted. “T-Together?”

The woman looked sheepish. “I’m afraid so… We assumed her room was going to be empty… But don’t worry, you have your own bed! And she spends most of her time out with Doyle anyway.”

Maybe it was a good thing she’d had her accident on the plane, made her secret known to Karissa… At least she wouldn’t have to worry about trying to hide it while they were in their room, since that would have been nearly impossible.

“And right when I thought we had gotten rid of her,” Aidan piped up, sticking his tongue out at his sister. “Now there’s two of them!”

“Aidan,” his father sighed, as Karissa stuck her tongue out, too, in response. “Remember what we talked about…”

“I’m just saying!” Aidan whined. “There’s another girl in the house, and she’s already buddy-buddy with Karissa!”

“Oh, I bet the two of you would have plenty to talk about,” Karissa gave Anna a sly look.

Anna squirmed, not knowing how to take that. Was Karissa suggesting she was going to tell Aidan about her diapers? Was it a threat? Or was it simply because of Anna’s choice in movies on the plane, which probably aligned more with what Aidan would watch than anything Karissa and her friends would be interested in? Or, as an extension of that, did she assume Anna’s maturity level was closer to his little brother’s than her own, thanks to… Well, everything?

“I’m sure all of you are going to be great friends by the end of this,” their mother stepped in diplomatically. “For now, why don’t we get out of here? I bet you’re all worn out after that flight.” Anna, Karissa, and Doyle all agreed to that, not least of all Anna, who hadn’t gotten any sleep at all on the plane, following the family towards the exit of the airport, pausing by the bathrooms. “Anyone need to make a pit stop?”

Karissa and Doyle accepted, the former glancing over at Anna to see what she was going to do. Anna fidgeted, looking around at all the people. It seemed so much busier here than back at her home airport… She could probably change, could probably even get Karissa to help again, but she’d rather wait until they were at Karissa’s house at this point.

“You sure?” Karissa’s mom asked when Anna stayed put. “Sorry,” she shook her head when she saw Anna’s cheeks light up. “I know you’re an adult, technically, just like Karissa… It’s just force of habit.”

“I-It’s okay,” Anna assured her, wiggling her bottom, feeling the soggy padding there. “I-I went on the plane.”

They all headed out to the parking lot once Karissa and Doyle returned, going to the family SUV, Anna hesitating as she watched Karissa’s younger brother, Aidan, climb into the back seat, Doyle taking one of the two single seats in the middle row. She locked eyes with Karissa, starting to blush again, wondering if there was going to be any cost to the girl’s silence so far, if Karissa was maintaining it for a reason other than being kind…

She didn’t really want to sit next to Aidan. He didn’t seem that bad, for a little brother, certainly not as annoying as Max so far. Being banished to the back seat, however, made it seem like she was his equal, rather than Karissa’s… Not to mention the fact that she was sure the two of them were the only ones in the car whose diapers Karissa had changed.

Doyle and Karissa were a couple, though, so it made more sense for them to sit together, and Anna couldn’t imagine she wanted to be stuck next to her brother, either, if she had a choice. It would be nice of Anna to take the hit, to go in the back… They were dropping Doyle off first, so it wouldn’t be all that long, and she could switch seats, perhaps, if doing so wasn’t going to offend Aidan by making it seem like she couldn’t stand to be around him.

On the other hand… It wasn’t going to be that long. Karissa and Doyle could stand to be apart for a bit, couldn’t they? And after Karissa had changed Anna’s diaper, there was no way she was going to think Anna could be a threat to her relationship… Right? Anna peered into the open car door, at the cute boy sitting there, waiting for Karissa, remembering the fluttering feeling in the put of her stomach when she’d first met him, when he’d helped her with her luggage…

She probably didn’t stand a chance with Doyle, and that was a good thing, considering what his current girlfriend knew about her, and the fact that they were going to be sharing a room. Still, she wouldn’t mind spending a little more time with him, even if it was while she was wearing a wet diaper. It wouldn’t exactly be alone, not with Karissa’s parents in front of them, and Karissa herself behind them, but it would be something, and definitely better than being stuck with Aidan.

It was a risk, yes… She’d been taking quite a few of those today. Putting on her diaper straight away, throwing out her last pair of panties, asking Karissa for help… Back home, she doubted she’d have had the courage for any of that. Here, apparently, she did, so maybe that was a sign she should keep going.

Where should Anna sit?

In the middle, with Doyle?

In the back, with Aidan?

Or in the back, with Aidan, then move to the middle after Doyle leaves?
